Litigation Counsel Dispute Resolution Facilitator Workplace Investigation Advisor

Rick was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2001 and spent 18 years with the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service as a Senior Crown Attorney. In that time, he worked extensively with the Specials Prosecutions Section prosecuting white collar crimes, political breach of trust, organized gangs, child internet exploitation and other complex cases including all forms of homicide. He represented the Attorney General at the Nova Scotia Criminal Code Review Board (dealing with those found Not Criminally Responsible or Unfit to Stand Trial due to mental illness) and held positions as a Designated Wiretap Agent and the Deputy High-Risk Offender Flagging Coordinator for the Province. He regularly provided training, advice and direction to specialized units of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Halifax Regional Police, the Serious Incident Response Team and various municipal forces throughout the province.

Rick practices primarily out of our Bedford office providing excellent legal service to clients in the Halifax Regional Municipality, the Annapolis Valley and the South Shore of Nova Scotia. While criminal law has been his specialty, in addition to utilizing his extensive experience defending people and companies charged with major criminal and regulatory offences, his practice also focuses on Alternate Dispute Resolution and Workplace Conflict Mitigation, including the provision of timely, discreet and comprehensive investigations into claims of employment-based misconduct.

Rick and his family live on the South Shore where they, in partnership with their dog Honey, care for over 60,000 bees. Rick also coaches high-school basketball and mills his own lumber.
