After graduating from law school Randall practiced law and served as an executive assistant to a provincial cabinet minister until returning to private law practice in 1992.  Randall has taught at Westminster School, London, England (1984), and has been a part time lecturer of law at Dalhousie Law School (1989-1992) where he taught Administrative Law, the School of Education at Dalhousie University (1985-1991), the Departments of Accounting and Political Science at St. Mary's University (1986-2003), where he taught courses in Business Law, Law and Politics and Comparative Constitutional Law, the Departments of Business and Education at Acadia University (since 1996) and the School of Education at Mount St. Vincent University (1997). He has also acted as a per diem Crown Prosecutor from 1986 to 1989. Presently Randall teaches two levels of Business Law and Labour Relations at Acadia University. 

Randall also has publications to his credit - for example, in 1990 co-authored a book, with a former Dean of Dalhousie Law School, on Supreme Court of Canada decision-making.  In 1996-1997 he was President of the Kings County Bar Society.  From 1998 to 1999 he served as a member of the Bar Council of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society and has served as a member of the Legal Ethics Committee, chairperson of the Practice Assistance Committee and a member of the Professional Responsibility and Ethics Committee of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society. 

He is a senior lawyer with the law firm of Anderson Sinclair, and has a civil litigation and commercial and property law practice with specialties in labour law, human and civil rights law, insurance, estate and commercial litigation.  Randall is an avid fly-fisherman and photographer.
